About us
East-Siberia State University of Technology and Management is a modern institution of higher education in the Far East. The University is situated in the capital of the Republic of Buryatia in the city of Ulan-Ude. We are the only technical University in Buryatia. We’ve prepared engineers (for machine manufacturing, power engineering, construction, food manufacturing and light industry), specialists majoring in IT, economy, legal studies, etc.
East-Siberia State University of Technology and Management entered the top ten leaders of the local RAEX ranking among universities in the Far Eastern Federal District.
More than seven thousand students are studying at the University now. They come to study here not only from Buryatia, but from other regions of Russia. Besides, about 250 students from China, Mongolia, Indonesia, Mali, Libya and other countries study at ESUTM. Foreign students have opportunity to get world-class education and live near the tourist “pearl” – the lake Baikal for 4-5 years.

I want to enter your university, how can I do that?
- to pass competitive admission in Rosstrudnichestvo representation office in your country;
- to pass ESSUTM entrance exams at the University or remotely within special competition for foreign citizens;
- to accept Certificate examination results, if you have them.
Under what terms can I study at ESSUTM?
Training of foreign citizens is carried out:
- at places within The Government of Russia State Scholarship (Russian Government quota);
- at commercial places with full studies payment;
- at state-funded places (along with Russian citizens, for foreign citizens, who can be designated as fellow countrymen)
What documents are necessary for entrance?
The minimum document set for any education level is the passport and the education document.
A foreign citizen, entering the University for bachelor’s or specialist’s program, provides a nationally recognized document on secondary or secondary vocational education, or a foreign citizen document on educational level, recognized in Russian Federation equal to a nationally recognized document on secondary or secondary vocational education.
A foreign citizen, entering the University for master’s program, provides bachelor’s degree diploma or specialist’s diploma with higher professional education diploma or specialist’s diploma, or a foreign country document on educational level recognized in Russian Federation equal to bachelor’s level or specialist’s with higher professional education diploma or specialist’s diploma
Documents on a foreign language must be translated into Russian and certified according to established order.
You can provide other documents (if you wish), for example, confirming your personal achievements.
Do I have to take procedure of education documents recognition?
In some cases it is necessary to take procedure of education documents recognition and their validation:
Education documents recognition for foreign citizens:
- Entrants from China, Mongolia, Belarus, Moldova, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, India, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, South Ossetia, and some others, that have agreement on education document mutual recognition with the Russian Federation, do not take recognition procedure;
- Entrants from countries, that do not have agreement on education document mutual recognition with the Russian Federation, can take the procedure of education documents recognition in the Federal Education and Science Supervision Service “Glavexpertcenter” and get the certificate about their equivalence and conclusion by operation of law. You can acknowledge, if the documents need to be recognized in the Federal Education and Science Supervision Service “Glavexpertcenter”
Does ESSUTM provide dormitory?
ESSUTM provides dormitory for the duration of studies to all foreign students if there are places. Dormitory is provided for the first turn to those who entered the University within The Government of Russia State Scholarship; then to visa-requiring countries and then for all foreign students, who need dormitory.
